It is OFFICIAL! Contracts are signed and our plans are moving forward: Hooks in Texas will be held in the San Angelo Hotel and Conference Center... soon to be a Clarion.
http://www.hotelsanangelo.com/This means that we will be lodging in the same facility as the conference, itself! No driving all over San Angelo- dodging road construction.
We will have the entire banquet room- divided into
classrooms, hospitality area for registration and meals, plus we are working to fill a vendor's room, as well.
Part of our contract with the hotel, includes Tea, Coffee, Soda and (filtered) Water for us all day long.
We have blocked off 40 rooms for the conference Attendees, and our room rate is $79. This includes free breakfast. When you reserve your room, please mention that you are with the Crochet Conference. The entire staff seems very excited about this; are they have all been a joy to work with.
The hotel itself is under a management change, and the entire facility is being remodeled, including the banquet room. So we will be one of the first groups to enjoy the new look.
Clarion has hired a local Chef (yes, chef) for their catering, but we have not sat down with him to formally plan a menu for the weekend.
We have the Banquet hall Friday night, All day Saturday, and Sunday morning, to give us lots of time together to visit and stitch.
Kim Guzman, Beverly Wildes and Cyndye Scott Batchelor are helping me this year, and we have some new elements to add to the conference; things that we are taking from other conference venues to add more opportunities to discover and share the needle art we are all passionate about.
We will post all the details as they are finalized.
Oh, the official date is October 5-7.
